Hi, I am Lucky McDonald.

I was born and raised in Dallas, Texas and I am a U.S. Army Veteran. I am married with 2 children. My wife is named Jenn, daughter Delaney and son Winston. We live in Little Elm, Texas with our 3 dogs, D'Jango, Sasha and Ranger.

Photography is a passion for me and has been for as long as I can remember. I never thought that it would become a profession in any sense of the word, but a few years ago I was encouraged by my wife and family to start sharing some of my work and that led to me being blessed to document the lives of others.

Winston James Photography is named after our son Winston James. He was born on July 2, 2017 and we lost him on July 17, 2017. He was born premature at only 23.5 weeks and fought a great fight, but in the end 15 days was all that we had with him. I name this in honor of him because it gives me the opportunity to speak about him and tell his story. I don't do this because "I need it to live and pay bills!", I do this because I genuinely love to see people enjoying the end result. Too often we fail to catch that moment, only to fall back on a "Remember when" story. The nostalgia of a lost photo, packed away in a box for many years, only to be found by someone who was unable to be part of that moment. More likely, we just forgot it all together, this is something that all of us have experienced. Let's Shoot your Legacy!
